A new Dominican airline, Arajet is preparing to launch as an ultra low cost carrier. Santo Domingo will have a direct flight to Guatemala City as of August 2022. This will make it easy for tourists to visit the cultural attractions of Guatemala City and the cultural and beach attractions of Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic, including Punta Cana.
Guatemala Ambassador Javier Zepeda told Diario Libre the flights open new opportunities to develop investments in trade and tourism. “You have the beaches of the Caribbean and we can complement these with archaeological attractions,” he stressed.
Guatemala recently signed an aviation agreement with the Dominican Republic.
