The objective is to impact the lives of Dominican girls between the ages of 9 and 16 who live in vulnerable situations and promote careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The program is already implemented in Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador.

She’s an Astronaut is an initiative developed by the She Is Foundation and the NASA Space Center with the support of the Government of Sweden and UN Women, among other organizations, is that girls can learn about all the opportunities they could find in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers.

In this program, the girls learned about leadership, motivational dynamics, teamwork through problem-solving and communication management related to real situations in space.

As part of the program, Dominican girls will be sent to an academic immersion program at the NASA Space Center in Houston. The selection process will begin in July 2022.

The She’s an Astronaut program develops over six months of online classes previous to the immersive experience in Houston. The participants will have meet and talk events and webinars.

The winners get an all-expenses paid trip to Nasa for five days to continue training in social empowerment, technology and innovation programs.
