Aguilas Cibaeñas leads Dominican winter baseball

A first month into the regular season, the Aguilas Cibaeñas, representing Cibao provinces, lead the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball Championship. The Aguilas have won 22 and lost nine games.

The Aguilas’ archi-rivals, the Santo Domingo-based team, the Tigres del Licey are next, just one game away. The Licey has won 19 games won and lost eight. The Gigantes del Cibao, the team from San Francisco de Macoris, is third with a record of 14-15. The Toros del Este of La Romana follow with 12-17; the Estrellas Orientales of San Pedro de Macoris have a history of 11 wins and 18 losses. The other capital city team, the Leones del Escogido has performed the worst, with a record of nine wins and 20 losses, 12 games behind first place.
