2,000 international scholarships available for Dominican students

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) is receiving applications for 2,000 international scholarships available for young Dominicans interested in pursuing master’s and doctoral programs in universities in 16 countries. The applications need to be made online from
31 January to 21 February 2023 at the National Scholarship System website.

Higher Education Minister Franklin García Fermín said the government will be investing RD$1.04 billion in the international scholarship program. The announcement event took place in the Pedro Mir Library of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD).

Higher Education Minister Fermin said the objective is to contribute to the social, economic, cultural, artistic and scientific development of the Dominican Republic.

Likewise, the director of the Government Office of Information and Communication Technologies (OGTIC), Bartolomé Pujals, said that the scholarships are granted on merits and the strategic needs of the country.

Scholarships are available for studies at higher education institutions (HEIs) in Spain, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Honduras, Italy, United Kingdom, Mexico, Switzerland, Portugal, Colombia, India and Sweden.

Those interested must meet a minimum academic index of 80, on a scale of 0-100 and 3, on a scale of 1 to 4, and need to complete an online International Scholarship Application Form, in addition to having academic documents legalized by the MESCYT.
