President Luis Abinader was in Pedernales, in the southwest for opening of the Armed Forces Vocational School and the start of construction of an extension of the Universidad Católica Tecnológica de Barahona (UCATEBA), to be the first university in this province.
The rector of the UCATEBA, Reverend Father Marco Antonio Pérez highlighted the importance of the new educational center to help prepare the staff for the new tourism developments in the area. The Abinader administration is backing the construction of large tourist hotels in the area and an airport for international arrivals.
