President Abinader and First Lady Raquel at the UK coronation

Abinader is first Dominican President to attend a coronation. President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje were in attendance at the coronation of Charles III as king of the United Kingdom. The First Lady was certainly noticed for her grace and elegance at several receptions and other events.

President Abiader took advantage of the trip to England to meet with high-ranking officials in the British cabinet, such as member of the House of Lords, Baroness Gloria Dorothy Hooper, the Prime Minister’s trade envoy for the Dominican Republic, Panama and Costa Rica. He also met with David Rutley, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Americas and Caribbean.

After attending the coronation ceremony, the President and the First Lady took part in the luncheon hosted by the royal family for the visiting dignitaries.

First Lady Raquel Arbaje’s wore black Oscar de la Renta attire.

The local coverage of the President’s trip to London started with the delivery of six packages of coffee to a Dominican who lives in London who hearing of the President’s trip asked him to bring her four packages of Dominican coffee that she was missing too much. The President turned up with six packages.
