
CID Latinoamerica polling agency released findings of a poll conducted from 30 August to 4 September 2023 that show President Luis Abinader as the likely winner of the 2024 presidential election.
In the summary of the poll, CID Latinoamerica says that Luis Abinader is in an extremely favorable position for the upcoming elections, maintaining a solid support base and winning comfortably in all possible electoral scenarios.
58% of the 1,200 citizens eligible to vote in the 19 May 2024 election said they would vote for Abinader. The runner-ups are former President Leonel Fernandez with 24%, the Santiago Mayor Abel Martínez for the PLD with 16% and Miguel Vargas of the PRD with 2%.
In the unlikely event that there was a second round, Abinader would also win comfortably against any opponent. 57% said they would vote for Abinader if a second round were held. If the vote were between Abinader and Abel Martinez, Abinader would win with 60.1%. If the vote were against Miguel Vargas, Abinader would with 62.3%.
