The 38th fatal victim of the Monday, 14 August 2023 explosion in San Cristobal was reported. The blast destroyed several buildings, vehicles and people inside and near businesses in the affected area.
The deceased was hospitalized at the Pearl F. Ort burn unit of the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital in northern Santo Domingo, but did not recover from the serious burns. Dr. Eddy Bruno, director of the burn unit, confirmed the death.
While 38 persons have died, 58 persons suffered serious injuries in the San Cristóbal tragedy.
