
American economist Michael Kremer, the 2019 Nobel Prize for Economics winner, visited the Ministry of Economy as part of a possible collaboration.
Kremer won the Nobel Prize in 2019 for helping to develop an innovative experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.
In Santo Domingo, Kremer met with Minister of the Presidency Joel Santos, Economy Minister Pavel Isa Contreras, Hacienda Minister Jose Manuel (Jochi) Vicente and Public Administration Minister Dario Castillo at the Ministry of Economy.
As reported, the ministers discussed the assessment of public policies and the role of the assessment in the National Budget as a guarantee of quality in government spending.
“We seek to strengthen our assessment capacities,” said Minister Isa Contreras when at the same time expressing his appreciation for the visit of Kremer and his team of specialists from the University of Chicago.
