
Recognized as most likely the most expert Dominican on arts and crafts, Jose de Ferrari was named to direct the National Crafts Center (Cenadarte), effective 8 November 2023. Cenadarte is an agency under the Ministry of Culture. Its objectives include actions for socioeconomic and cultural development by fostering the arts and crafts sector nationwide. Cenadarte provides training of young people nationwide in Dominican crafts and the identification, promotion and marketing of Dominican artisanal production.
De Ferrari has a degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, with a postgraduate degree in Marketing from the Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC).
He previously was the head of the Crafts Promotion Division of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM).
He has more than 40 years of experience carrying out consultancies, studies and catalogs for the country’s craft sector and cultural and creative industries to public institutions, NGOs and international cooperation agencies.
He was coordinator of the catalog “Creative Hands of Dominican Artisan Diversity.” In addition, he served as general coordinator of the Catalog of Dominican Crafts, prepared by the MINC and the MICM.
