The Ministry of Foreign Relations announced the standardization of all consular services to eliminate the different price levels charged for the same services, even within a single country.
To obtain Dominican passports abroad, fees range between US$90 and US$200, according to the category of the passport itself, the length of validity and the country where one is requested.
Passports will be US$125 for a first-time passport and renewals in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico and US$90 in Europe and the rest of the world for six-year duration. VIP-issued passport for six years will cost US$150 in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, and US$115 in the rest of the world. A 10-year VIP passport will cost US$200 in the aforementioned three countries, and US$165 in the rest of the world. VIP passports are those expeditely issued.
These charges are in addition to the fees charged by the Dominican Passports Agency.
For visas, the tariffs range between courtesy visas to those costing US$95 and US$250, according to the type of visa requested.
For the legalization of documents the costs now vary between US$25 and US$100.
The latest directive also calls for citizens and other persons to report any charges above those cited and orders all consular offices to report their monthly incomes from these services.
