Licey hangs on

The Licey Tigers of the Dominican Republic, the defending champions of the 2024 Caribbean Series in Miami, Florida defeated the Curacao Suns 2-0 to continue in the race to make the semi-final four. The DR still has to match Panama that is tied with Venezuela in the group stage. The game will be on Wednesday, 7 February 2024. The DR team is tied with the country’s arch-rival Puerto Rico in the standings.

The tournament teams include the members of the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela) and three guests (Curaçao, Nicaragua and Panama).

The Caribbean Series began 1 February and is set to finish on on Friday, 9 February at the IoanDepot park, the home of the Miami Marlins. This is the first time the championship is played at a Major League venue.

As of the games on Tuesday, 6 February, the standings are: Venezuela and Panama are tied in first place with 4 wins and 1 loss; Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are tied with 3 wins and 1 loss; Curacao has 2 wins and 3 losses; Mexico has 2 wins and 4 losses and Nicaragua has 5 losses.

Wednesday, 7 February games are:

Curacao vs Puerto Rico 10:30am
Dominican Republic vs Panama 3:30pm
Nicaragua vs Venezuela 8:30pm

The semi-final and final will take place on 8 February and 9 February. All games are available live across ESPN Deportes and ESPN+.
