Routine meetings of military on border with Haiti

Military from the United States reportedly visited the northern border area and toured the binational market of Dajabón on the Dominican side of the border with Haiti.

Diario Libre reported US Embassy military attache, Major Jacobo Mormon accompanied US Department of Defense Major Neil Law. As reported, the US military were received by Colonel Freddy R. Soto Thormann, director of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (Cesfront).

Linked In describes Major Neil Law as US Army Foreign Area Officer for the Western Hemisphere. The description states that Major Law has over 12 years of military leadership and is the US Army’s premier regional and country expert with the responsibility of providing “unequaled time-sensitive situational awareness to senior decision makers. Law is an expert on regional knowledge and military capabilities, responsible for building partner capacity in support of US strategic objectives through bilateral cooperation with foreign military leaders and government officials.

Gabriel Hurst, spokesman for the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic, said the meetings were routine.
