Dominican sports fans who had not been following the NBA playoffs are likely to now tune in to the NBA games. It is that Karl Anthony Towns is on the Dominican national basketball team. Remember Towns played with the Dominican national team in the FIBA World Cup in August 2023.
On Sunday, 28 April 2024, the Minnesota Timberwolves clinched the ticket to the semifinals of the NBA playoffs for the first time in 20 years.
Karl Anthony Towns and teammate Anthony Edwards made for an unbeatable duo that got their act together in the last quarter after trailing the Phoenix Suns for most of the first half. In the after-game conference, both players pointed to each other as the reason for the advance.
Anthony Edwards scored 40 points, Karl-Anthony Towns added 28 and the Timberwolves pulled away late to beat the Suns 122-116 in the Sunday night game and sweep the first-round playoff series to advance in the Western Conference Playoffs.
The two Anthonys got their three-point shots at the end to defeat the All-Star trio of Kevin Durant (33 points), Devin Booker (49 points) and Bradley Beal of the Phoenix Suns.
CBS Sports News recognized what making the playoff means especially for Towns who has kept with Minnesota since he was drafted in 2015. Edwards joined in 2020.
Minnesota Timberwolves enters the second round as number 3 seed, while Denver Nuggets are the favorites, as number two seed.

Al Horford, a former member of the national basketball team, is playing in the NBA playoffs Eastern Conference for the Boston Celtics. Horford is expected to get more play time now that Celtics’ key player Kristaps Porzingis is out for a recent injury.
