Dominican baseball power at the All Star Game 2024

Of the 14 position players that will take the field on Tuesday, 16 July 2024 for the Major League Baseball All Stars Game, more than 33% will be Dominican. Yes, more than a third. Five Dominicans will suit up as starters for this year’s game.

Overall, Latino ballplayers compose 50% of the starting position players starting the All Stars Game at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

For the American League, Juan Soto (New York Yankees) will start in the outfield. He is batting .300 and has 20 home runs and 61 runs-batted-in (RBIs), the leader in the American League.

Then there is the “little giant” Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians, perhaps the best third baseman in all of baseball. Batting .276, he has 23 home runs and 76 RBIs as of this writing.

And in the tradition of “like father, like son,” there is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. whose .298 batting average, 13 home runs and 50 RBIs placed him in the starting lineup at first base.

In the “Senior” Circuit, the National League, Ketel Marte achieved his second appearance in the All-Star Game with a .287 batting average, 17 home runs, and 50 RBIs.

He will be joined by another “like father like son” ballplayer, Fernando Tatis Jr, who is batting for .279, with 14 homers and 36 RBIs.

Z Digital recalls that 111 Dominican ball players over the years have participated in the All Stars Classic. Of these eight have won MVP awards.
