The Santiago City Council has authorized Mayor Ulises Rodríguez to sign an agreement with various cultural institutions, formalizing a recently approved municipal ordinance (Resolution 14-24) to transform the country’s second largest city into a cultural tourism destination.
Other members of the committee include the Leon Cultural Center, the City Council, the Ateneo Amantes de la Luz, the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, and the Provincial Departments of Culture and Monumental Heritage. The Cibao Alliance, the Utesa Dominican Convention and Culture Center, the Utopia Theater, 37 por las Tablas and Casa de Arte, and members of civil society, will also participate in the initiative.
Santiago is already a major medical destination, with a strong gastronomical offering.
