Santo Domingo is a popular venue for international shows. On tour around the world, the famous “Eden” by Joyce Di Donato will be staged on Friday, 2 August 2024 at the main hall of the National Theater.
The program contains masterpieces that span centuries (like the aria “Toglierò le sponde al mare” from Mysliveček’s Adamo ed Eva alongside “Nature, the gentlest mother” by Aaron Copland), that invite people to connect more deeply with the world we live in. The performance’s symbolic ambition is to plant and nurture a new garden.
The event is brought to Dominican audiences by Sinfonía Foundation. The world-renowned mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and the Baroque orchestra Il Pomo d’Oro, conducted by the esteemed Maxim Emelyanychev, stage this world-acclaimed performance.
DiDonato, one of opera’s most celebrated voices, takes center stage in this immersive production, which explores profound themes of humanity and our connection to the natural world. The Friday, 2 August 2024 concert promises to feature a combination of stunning vocals, instrumental virtuosity, and theatrical elements, creating a truly unforgettable experience.
A Sinfonia press release explains that “Eden” is not merely a performance; it’s a journey. “Through music, we aim to inspire reflection and ignite a passion for environmental stewardship,” says the pro-classic music entity.
Beyond the concert itself, the Sinfonía Foundation has organized various educational and environmental initiatives tied to the production of “Eden.” These programs aim to engage the community and foster a deeper appreciation for the arts and the natural world.
Tickets range from RD$$1,120 to RD$8,945.
