Juan TH named to the Indotel board

President Luis Abinader appointed respected and popular journalist 71-year old Juan Antonio Taveras Hernández (Juan TH) as member of the board of directors of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel). He fills the position of the member of the board proposed by the media groups.

Decree 490-24 establishes that he replaces Príamo Rafael Ramírez Ubiera, who resigned the position to become the executive director of the board of the Public-Private Trust for the Comprehensive Management of Solid Wastes.

He joins the board at a time when lawyer and politician Guido Gomez Mazara was appointed president of the board. In recent years, Taveras Hernandez has been close to President Luis Abinader.

Juan Antonio Taveras Hernández (Juan TH) has worked as a columnist, radio and television producer, politician, poet and active citizen.

As reported in his self-biography, he began his career in media working as a newspaper delivery boy, selling El Nacional on the streets of northern Santo Domingo. He later worked there as a writer, magazine director, and columnist for over 25 years.

With more than three decades of journalism experience, Taveras Hernández has contributed to a range of media outlets, including Radio ABC, Radio Antillas, El Sol, El Nuevo Diario, El Show del Mediodía, 7 x 7 Roberto, and both El Gobierno de la Mañana and El Gobierno de la Tarde on Z-101. He has also worked with Canal 45 and Canal 19.

His career includes roles as press editor at the National Palace, Director of Noti-Tiempo, and Radiotelevisión Dominicana.
