Road construction chaos causes gridlock on Isabel Aguiar Avenue

If you can, now more than before, avoid the west capital city intersection known as “Pintura”. The intersection nicknamed for the paint factory in the vicinity is now under intense road construction for better traffic flow.

The construction is resulting in a worse traffic gridlock as vehicles move through the still viable road sections of the Isabel Aguiar avenue leading to the Prolongación 27 de Febrero that connects to the Duarte Highway, the main road to the north of the country.

Listin Diario reports that local residents and commuters alike have described the situation as a “construction nightmare,” citing the constant traffic jams, especially during peak hours.

Ángel Amador, a local resident, expressed concerns about the slow pace of the construction and the resulting inconveniences in an interview published in the Listin Diario. “They say they’re going to build an overpass, but I think they’re just wasting time because they’ve been working on this for two months, they work for a while and then they leave. When it rains, this is a total chaos, you can’t pass because of all the water and the traffic jams,” he said.
