Support for limiting alcohol sales hours

The National Hotel & Tourism Association (Asonahores) and the National Association of Rum Producers (Adopron) back the government instating new controls on hours for sales of rum to limit sales. The opinions support new measures instituted by the Ministry of Interior and Police, now under Minister Faride Raful, to reduce drinking and partying that disturb the peace of neighborhoods.

The editorial suggests the DR apply measures similar to those in Colombia, Argentina, the United States and Spain and stated:
“Drinking alcohol in the streets is not just a pastime; it is a manifestation of a larger issue: the lack of control, respect for the law, and collective values.

“If we want to restore our sense of community and strengthen our society, it is essential to demand the strict enforcement of regulations and make a conscious effort to change the cultural attitudes that fuel this disorder.”
