Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Punta Catalina (EGEPC), the power corporation, has launched a tender for a 40 MW solar plant aimed at self-consumption.
The Punta Catalina Power Generation Company announced the formal start of the international public bidding process for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the Punta Catalina Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant. The Punta Catalina Power Generation Company is a 752 MW coal-fired thermoelectric located in Peravia province, an hour’s drive west from the capital city. The company says that the project seeks to complement the Punta Catalina thermoelectric plant operations through the incorporation of solar energy. The solar panels will be located on the same property.
“The Punta Catalina Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant represents a significant step in our transition strategy towards sustainable energy sources. This project will not only increase the efficiency of our operation, but also confirms our commitment to sustainability and technological innovation,” said Celso Marranzini, Executive Vice President of EGEPC, in the call for tenders on 30 and 31 December 2024. A technical visit was scheduled for 1 January 2025, the receipt of technical and economic proposals are due on 17 February 2025, and the final award scheduled for 24 March 2025.
The contract contemplates a maximum execution period of 20 months. The project that will be financed with EGEPC’s own resources.
