
Authorities in the Dominican Republic have intercepted a shipment of cocaine concealed within rolls of fabric destined for Australia. The operation was carried out by agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry.
During a joint inspection at a shipping company’s warehouse in the National District, officials discovered two packages of cocaine hidden inside the core of several fabric rolls. The total weight of the seized cocaine is approximately one kilogram.
According to the shipping manifest, the fabric rolls were sent by an individual from La Romana province and were intended for delivery to an address in Brunswick East, Australia.
The DNCD and the Public Ministry have launched an investigation into the thwarted drug trafficking attempt to identify and apprehend those involved in the international network.
This seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of Dominican authorities to combat drug trafficking and the innovative methods employed by criminal organizations to smuggle narcotics.
