National Police apprehend two Haitian 400 Mawozo gang members

The Dominican Republic National Police handed over two suspected active members of the dangerous Haitian gang 400 Mawozo, Lory Thermidor and Louis Jean Robenson, to their Haitian counterparts. The men had fled to Dominican territory to evade justice in their country, Haitian media report.

Diario Libre reports that the handover of the suspects, according to information from the neighboring country, took place on Saturday, 1 February 2025, at the Belladère border post, as part of binational cooperation between the Haitian National Police (PNH) and Dominican authorities, including the Border Police (Polifront).

Haitian media define it as “a blow” for the 400 Mawozo gang, one of the most feared gangs in Haiti, known for its involvement in kidnappings, acts of violence and terror in vulnerable communities. After being handed over in the Dominican Republic, both individuals were subsequently handed over to the Haitian National Police (PNH), which will be responsible for the corresponding legal proceedings.

Diario Libre has reported that another member of the 400 Mawozo gang, Pierre Peguy is suspect of being behind assaults to truckers in the Santiago region and has yet to be apprehended.
