Incabide announces auction of seized and confiscated assets

The National Institute for the Custody and Administration of Seized and Abandoned Assets (Incabide) has announced its first-ever public auction of confiscated property, organized under the legal framework of Law No. 60-23. This inaugural event marks a significant milestone in the Dominican Republic’s management of assets recovered from criminal activities, including illicit drug trafficking, money laundering, and administrative corruption.

The auction features a diverse portfolio of high-value items, including real estate (apartments, houses and vacant lots), transportation (luxury vehicles, yachts and aircraft), and valuables (jewelry, scrap metal).

The executive director of Incabide, Manuel Oviedo Estrada, characterized the process as a democratic opportunity for citizen investment. He emphasized that the auction transforms assets once tied to illegal acts into useful resources for state development. “We are opening the doors so that any Dominican, from entrepreneurs to families, can participate with total confidence,” Oviedo Estrada stated, noting that transparency is the “sole protagonist” of the process.

To ensure legal certainty for buyers, the official confirmed that every asset has undergone the rigorous legal purge established by Law No. 60-23. This guarantees that all winning bidders will receive documentation in good standing, free of any liens or legal encumbrances.

Social reinvestment of funds
In accordance with current regulations, the proceeds from the auction will be allocated to strengthen social compensation and prevention programs. This move is designed to ethically return resources to Dominican society in a productive manner.

Participation and logistics
Interested parties must complete their formal registration at the INCABIDE headquarters by 1 May 2026. Registration hours are from 8am to 4pm.

The auction will take place on 13 May 2026, beginning at 8am, at the Dr. Ricardo Michel Auditorium of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).

The full bidding terms, conditions, and the complete catalog of assets are available on the institution’s official portal.

In its coverage on the auction, Listin Diario mentions that one of the apartments to be auctioned is that of drug trafficker José David Figueroa Agosto and his spouse at the time, Sobeida Felix Morel.

Registration is from 8am to 4pm at the Incabie offices at Calle F #5, Arroyo Hondo Viejo until 1 May 2026 for those interested in participating in the auction. The registration has a cost of RD$5,000.
