Technicians from the PRD, Fernando Mangual, Bienvenido Brito and William Liriano said that if they were to win the elections they would provide the Ministry of Tourism with RD$320 million a year, up from the present RD$20 million annual allotment. Of that amount, they said RD$182 million would be specifically earmarked for international promotion.

The Listín Diario has reported the visit of actor George Hamilton to the Dominican Republic. The well known actor who has been portraying Dracula as of late, has business interests in this country involving Tabacalera García, a cigar manufacturer in the La Romana Industrial Free Zone, which produces a line of Hamilton cigars.
