The country’s three main vehicle fuel distributors, TEXACO, SHELL and ESSO, have increased the retail price of unleaded fuel by RD$0.40 per US gallon. The companies said that the increase was due to the movement in international prices, reflected in the cost of imports made by the Refinería Dominicana de Petróleo (REFIDOMSA).

The chief of the National Police, Major General Camilo Antonio Nazir Tejada, has announced a scheme to involve university students in the regulation of traffic in Santo Domingo. Major Nazir Tejada told the news media that all the major universities will participate, sending students who will be supervised by officers in the traffic department.
