Tax ceiling on salaries could go up in January

The Listin Diario newspaper reported that it is likely that the government will apply the inflation factor and increase the salary level that is exempt from paying income taxes to RD$7,700, up from RD$7,000 a month. This would be effective as of January 1998. The Central Bank estimates the year’s end inflation will be 9.9%.
