Dominicans feel Christmas traditions have changed, according to results of the Gallup-Hoy newspaper poll. Seventy-eight percent of Dominicans say that money problems, loss of faith in the traditions and an increase in delinquency have forced Dominicans to change the way they celebrate Christmas. The survey was carried out 5-9 December.

According to the same Gallup poll, 46% of Dominicans throughout the country say that Fernando Villalona is the most popular singer of all times. Next in popularity are Johnny Ventura, Anthony Santos, Anthony Ríos and Sergio Vargas. 56% of the residents in Santo Domingo feel that Villalona is the most popular.

A recent Gallup poll showed that Dominicans are skeptical about the anti-corruption efforts of President Leonel Fernández. 64% of Dominicans are skeptical about the Attorney General prosecuting cases of corruption in the past administration.
