President Leonel Fernández is scheduled to address the nation tonight Monday, 17 July. At the end of his address he will take questions from the press. The Radio Televisión Dominicana telecast is scheduled for 8 pm. The last time he took questions from the press was on 9 February, when he addressed the capitalization process.

President-elect Hipólito Mejía left on Sunday for a 7-day Caribbean cruise. He is traveling with his family. With him are his wife Rosa Gomez and his four children, Ramón Hipólito, Felipe, Elizabeth and Carolina, their spouses and his grandchildren. He has plans to return on 23 July.
