wha ?

I was stopped a short time ago and taken up to the station. While there were a handful of gringoes up there, the vast majority were dominican. I've been stopped twice, both times my fault, and have been treated well both times. It seems that if you treat them well, they'll treat you well. I'm sure that others have a different take on it, but to me, they're just doing their job and I'm thankful for it. This town needs some law enforcement. Have a blessed day!!
Pray tell why it was necessary for them too take you to the station if they are so nice ?

As I said, both times I was at fault. When you need to pay for a ticket they take you up to the stationhouse and retain something of value so you'll actually pay what you owe to get it back.

for the love of god, why can't you just obey the law? i drove to and past sosua many times and never even once caused any interest in AMET nor the police. and i look as white and gringoish as possible. so does miesposo. never had any problems either.
do you guys have come-and-rip-me-off faces or what?
Your day is coming!

am curious (please do not take this post to be in any way aggressive).
AMET?
these days they either give you a ticket or not.
you can even ask for it up front if you are so inclined and they seem to want to waste your time.
why would you give them something of value to retain?

You don't get an option. When you are stopped they ask for your paperwork: license, insurance, and ownership papers. If you have an infraction, they just keep your license until you take care of your ticket.

That's why you always carry copies of everything nothing ever original than what will they do.........uhhh nothing and you then drive away.

geesh , not very different from rural cops in small southern towns. Bribes are not common however favors are prevalent.

when they pull you over, they ask to see your papers. If you don't have them, infraction. If they said you ran a red light, infraction. No seat-belt, infraction. Ect....

Amet stopping people for infractions and tickets has nothing to do with keeping people "safe".

Its big government using public servants to generate revenue off the backs of the public. This is standard in NY and the USA.

Lie-onel borrowed so much from the IMF/World Bank that the interest has to be paid by the "people" by way of tolls, tickets, etc.

Go read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" -

Then what are the guys that are usually on bikes dressed in grey with black bulletproof(?) vests?
Policia National.

G2's don't have to wear a uniform. AMET, PN and Politur do. G2=Plain clothes. They *may* wear a hat or something with G2. That's the problem when they stop you: no real identification.
