I was hoping the thread could get closed before the OP bashing began!

I suggest you vary your friends and travel experiences as this world has amazing people and places in it--much of it very different from where you and I were raised.

Lots of people raised in homes where they were respected in communities that value their citizens expect decency. Don't know why that's so shocking, and why you hold them in such contempt. Personally, I'd like to see more kids spared the hard knocks that their 'hoods expose them to.

I'm guilty of adding an American's thoughts when it was explained that this is a Canadian issue, but it would be nice if we could just respond to newbies without insulting them.
