It is not only shorter, it takes away the extremely annoying driving through crap-holes like Veron, La Ceiba, Otrabanda, terrible Higuey, desastrous Benerito etc. etc. A true blessing!!!!

Unfortunately the road on the north of La Romana is not a part of Autopista del Coral.......La Romana is another hell hole to drive through.......

But traffic is still going to go though La Romana for foreseeable future ... the "La Romana North" area is still just a wilderness...

So is this new highway complete? what is the drive time from SD to La Romana?, PC? and Bavaro now?

The taxi drivers at Punta Cana airport are all saying that the highway is having an opening August 8 with Leonel.

That remains to be seen... There's much work still to be carried out. Maybe some parts of the road will be open by then, but not the whole project by any means!
