Very strange that both of them would die. Sounds
like they both ingested or were exposed to something
around the same time.
Sad.
RIP

The Hotel does NOT deserve negative Press for this just yet, and until the Mystery is Solved and cause of death determined, there is NO
Reason to RE POST the name of the Hotel, BECAUSE NO ONE else got sick in that Hotel, only the 2 Newlyweds..
How hard is that to understand.
I thought some of you believed in waiting for " all the FACTS to come out first" like you do on OTHER events where people died.
Whats the Rush ?

I agree. And the name was posted in a comment, not by a news source, so not even credible.

And we're back to the same thing :

Stop the theories and wait for the autopsy results.

Condolences.

News Links.

I won't repeat this again.

Simple, people have nothing better to do than make up theories and work out their own (unfounded) conclusions. As you said, it wouldn't be fair to name the hotel and have everyone assume they were poisoned there when it is known the couple was elsewhere for the day and ate outside the resort. I'm actually impressed that the hotel hasn't been leaked yet to the media (afaik).

After death the Voorburgs set: ' no one benefits from blemish on tourism '

Gehuchtzwijgt
4 hours ago Edwin Timmer

In the Dominican Republic resort of Bayahibe, a hamlet of 2000 souls, seems no one aware of the fatal honeymoon by Michou Venema.

The local fisherman Nikola hangover is stunned as he the tragic news about Jeroen and Michou (inset).
Hardly anyone knows the tragic case of the brand new Voorburg wedding couple that suddenly became ill and died just after each other.

Taxi driver Daniel Mateo makes a gesture with his fingers as if he dichtritst his mouth. "Public and private is a big difference here Sir", he explains. "What happens behind the hotel walls, always remains there." The fifties remembers how Hurricane George years ago sowed death and destruction. "Countless tourists were the victim. I have seen that with my own eyes. But then there was nothing official out. "

Big eyes put The 64-year-old Nikola hangover. visser from the paradise village on the Caribbean Sea just believe what he hears. "Died after an excursion to the island of Saona? And all two also? " The Dominican has been living 60 years in Bayahibe but something he has never experienced. "Of course, accidents happen. But this? Terrible! "

The astonishment of Hangover is emblematic of that came with many villagers, taxi drivers and tour leaders in the vacation paradise. Even in Gift shop Karina, directly opposite hotel Catalonia Gran Dominicus where the honeymoon-tragedy took place, we hear for the first time about Jeroen (32) and Michou (28). "Even if we have nothing picked up gossip", says owner Wade.

Only lawyer Janelle Luciano from Punta Cana, is aware of the drama. It's her noticed how her Government with the couple discreetly Venema. "In local media is barely mention the happen. That is perhaps understandable from the hotel. Because if there is such a story goes, is that a blow to your income. Maybe it even threatens your survival. "

Despite the attractive palm trees along the driveway keeps hotel Catalonia Gran Dominicus the gate shut. This is the place where joined the Dutch set up a mysterious, but revealed fatal poisoning. Sat it in the food? Or was it something else? Director Roberto Iglesias refuses explanation. An obese security guard on an old bike from denying all access to the site.

The reserved reaction of the Spanish hotel chain, which do business with travel company TUI in Netherlands, corresponds to the summary Word lining of the national police in the capital Santo Domingo. Dominican media finally have, other than the Netherlands, widespread attention in the case of the newly married couple from Voorburg largely hushed up.

"It's the normal course of business that, if something happens in the hotels, nothing comes out", explains Wade in its gift shop. "There are much larger interests." They are referring to the power of five million tourists who annually via tour operators to this holiday factory. And most of them come to the eastern tip at Punta Cana. "No one benefits from a stain on a hotel, let alone in the field".

By telephone let hotel Director Iglesias know that everything he has done to the Dutch family of the bride and groom to neatly guide during their visit. All relevant authorities are visited for inspection. As for Catalonia Gran Dominicus in Bayahibe is the end.

I received this via PM from Abuela. Thread is now reopened, let's keep it respectful and on topic please. No off-the-wall theories please.

Now that it has been revealed which hotel the couple stayed, I checked recent reviews on Trip Advisor.
Someone who visited in April said a snorkeling trip to Saona had them encountering poisonous jelly fish.
Do you suppose the honeymooners may have had the same encounter with adverse effects?
