It has also been alleged that the amount was between 2 and 3 million pesos which I opinion is closer to the mark

This guy will get a stiff time. They've gone above and beyond normal to catch him. He'll either be killed or serve a life of misery. IMO.

Final Justice

General Hector Garcia Cuevas, commander of the Santiago region, had identified Rodriguez as the mastermind. He was arrested and interrogated on 10 April, but the judge who heard the case ordered him to be left in the custody of an unnamed person and said he was required to return to court. Nonetheless, Rodriguez was able to leave the country and travel to Spain.

Even if now all seems to be going all right, the fact, that they had him and let him go, is very disturbing.
It suggests that he bribed his way out and the authorities failed to keep him from leaving the country (impedimento de salida).

Now, if he really should get 15 or 30 years, he won't do five, I am certain.
But there are cases which are "settled" out of court... like inside the prison.

Hope for final justice.

many serve about a half of heir sentence. sometimes less. i think it depends on who you are, who you know, how much money doe you have and so on. as far as inside justice, he may have better connection than the family of the victim. realistically speaking getting any justice here may be hard.

Paradise for Murderers

(...) Nepomuceno Rodr?guez, who has another pending proceedings for homicide in the Dominican Republic, reportedly fled to Spain after the crime.

And the proceedings were such, that it was easy for him to leave the country without any problems.
This country is paradise for murderers.

As reported in today's DR1 News:

Spain arrests man suspected of killing Dominican lawyer
Ambiorix Nepomuceno Rodriguez, the main suspect in the murder of lawyer Paola Languasco, was arrested in the Spanish city of Burgos yesterday, Thursday 21 May 2015. He now faces extradition to the Dominican Republic. Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito announced his arrest and confirmed that the extradition process was underway. Dominican prosecutors had requested his arrest through Interpol, as reported in Diario Libre. Dominguez Brito highlighted the cooperation received from the Dominican Embassy in Spain. He described the crime of which Nepomuceno Rodriguez is accused as "horrible." The autopsy showed that the victim had been beaten with a heavy object, and there had been a struggle because one of her arms was broken. She finally died of four gunshots wounds.
The two men who disposed of her body, Cristino Antonio Marmol Nunez and Alejandro Pichardo Marte confessed to having been hired by Nepomuceno Rodriguez. They said they were paid RD$2,000 for the grisly task.
Meanwhile, Paola Languasco's father Leopoldo called on the Police and the Attorney General to guarantee Nepomuceno Rodriguez's safety, amid fears that he could be eliminated to prevent him from revealing the names of the police officers and judiciary officials who let him walk free, even when he was the lead suspect in the case. He left the country for Spain.
