I have "ALL" of Trujillo's merengues and then some, including the ones to be played when he entered the function that he was hosting or was invited to. Many groups were forced to become Trujillo's orquestas by just asking, you know...
The one that I think never became "official" was the one led by Antonio Morel of whom I keep the complete musical database. Alberto Beltran and his mellow music filled the international palate with the sweets of our merengues. Also I have all the coros to Trujillo sang at schools and rallies. You'll be amazed that they even sang to Ciudad Trujillo, Ciudad Colonial!!!
La Orquesta San Jose of Papa Molina, Angel Viloria Y Su conjunto Tipico Cibaeno, Luis Alberti y su grupo Cibaeno became "La Orquesta Presidente Trujillo" back in the mid 1930's by order of Trujillo himself. The most known to this day was the Trio Reynoso and Tatico Herinquez.
All of them are part of my little treasure...
Many of the songs I'm unable to release or sale, copy, etc... By agreed terms with the original sources; but I can record you a DVD in MP3 mode and mail it to you with those that I can.
It's wonderful to find somebody that also loves the Dominican Music heritage!!!
My Gift to you...
I also have in my small collection the digitized recordings of international artists that performed on several Dominican stages there; including Javier Solis, Pedro Infante, Barbarito Diez, La Sonora Matancera, Connie Francis, Frank Sinatra, etc...
Not long ago (well, yes long ago) I finished collecting the musical history of Carlos Gardel, my mom loved his music so much that I made an extra effort to get those vinyl and mostly paste LP's that still sounds with the same fidelity as they did when they were recorded in our Vitrola.
She relives her early years when she hears all those songs! And I sure love it!
BTW: I have the entire Juan Luis Guerra and 4.40 discography, including songs that were recorded in situ. My sister was good friends with some of the guys and they went to the monumento to eat chimis after some presentations in Santiago. Same for so many other Dominicans artists I had the chance to meet via friends and relatives.
I still believe that the best interpretation of our beloved Compadre Juan is in the voice of Francis Santana since when he was part of the Orquesta Antillana of Antonio Morel. He interpreted so many songs while in La Voz Dominicana...
And who can forget Nico Lora (sorry no Spanish in this laptop) or Luis Kalaf?!?
I promise to make your ears dream in ecstasy...
