YO tambien tengo mas merengue de los 80's que el diablazooooo!!.

I have a friend in Queens who used to buy those merengues as soon as they left the "factory".

Then me, being the "avibato" that I am, used to take them home and record them on cassettes......Then to CD's.

I lost count how many songs I have.....If I have to estimate, I'll say close to 2,000.....Everything from Jochy Hernandez's to Anibal Bravo, to Bonny Cepeda, to Aramis Camilo y la Organizacion Secreta, to Henry Garcia...

Shyt, I even have some "Musiquito" songs, for the love of God!!. LOL.

Try 125,000 ...

I have songs that the original singers kick the bucket when they hear me put then on... LOL!!!!

Ever heard the protest song to Col Caamano Deno by our "original compadre pedro juan singer"....

I have the merengues recorded at La Voz Dominicana to be played at all official functions by the Dominican embassies around the world during Trujillo's internationalization of the Merengue de Salon...

The Complete musical history of our treasured "Guandulito" who gave la vieja fefa her moniker as she sat by his feet while he played his accordion. He said he called Fefita like that because she always looked and acted like an old lady, mind you she was a teen then.

I have our first radio transmitted merengue tune over the first Dominican radio too...

I love our music and roots, one day I want to build a museum to our music and let our kids know that part they just keep hearing traces of from the actual artists that recycle the songs.

I have more Mangulina than ever the old Jaragua walls got to resonate with during its Golden Era. The recordings of the best of the best of our little piece of dirt in the immense waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Our formidable Maestro Rafael Solano... So may people...

I had the opportunity to network with people around the time that much of the music in the archives of most TV and radio recordings in the DR were being digitize to save them for posterity and was lucky to have them granted full access to my eternal delight.

Of these only 125,000, also some 80,000 that keep growing by the day as new Dominican artists come of age into the mainstream.

I was about to call you "Pinocchio" until I read your last post!!.....I was like "El diablazooooo, they recorded 127,0000 songs in the 80's?".....Well, thinking about it, back in the 80's, the DR had more "combos" than people!!!!. Wahahahaha!.

Btw: do you have anything by what they called "Trujillo's Orquestas"?.....One of then being La Orquesta Santa Cecilia?. I still remember: "Salve San Cristobal"......NICE fricking merengues!!.

If you do.....NAME YOUR PRICE!!!.

Btw: Solano's "La nina de los algodones", FOR me, is one of the nicest merengues of all times.....Right besides Johnny Ventura's "Merenguero hasta la tambora"!!.

CLASSICS!!.

I have "ALL" of Trujillo's merengues and then some, including the ones to be played when he entered the function that he was hosting or was invited to. Many groups were forced to become Trujillo's orquestas by just asking, you know...
The one that I think never became "official" was the one led by Antonio Morel of whom I keep the complete musical database. Alberto Beltran and his mellow music filled the international palate with the sweets of our merengues. Also I have all the coros to Trujillo sang at schools and rallies. You'll be amazed that they even sang to Ciudad Trujillo, Ciudad Colonial!!!

La Orquesta San Jose of Papa Molina, Angel Viloria Y Su conjunto Tipico Cibaeno, Luis Alberti y su grupo Cibaeno became "La Orquesta Presidente Trujillo" back in the mid 1930's by order of Trujillo himself. The most known to this day was the Trio Reynoso and Tatico Herinquez.

All of them are part of my little treasure...

Many of the songs I'm unable to release or sale, copy, etc... By agreed terms with the original sources; but I can record you a DVD in MP3 mode and mail it to you with those that I can.

It's wonderful to find somebody that also loves the Dominican Music heritage!!!
My Gift to you...

I also have in my small collection the digitized recordings of international artists that performed on several Dominican stages there; including Javier Solis, Pedro Infante, Barbarito Diez, La Sonora Matancera, Connie Francis, Frank Sinatra, etc...

Not long ago (well, yes long ago) I finished collecting the musical history of Carlos Gardel, my mom loved his music so much that I made an extra effort to get those vinyl and mostly paste LP's that still sounds with the same fidelity as they did when they were recorded in our Vitrola.

She relives her early years when she hears all those songs! And I sure love it!

BTW: I have the entire Juan Luis Guerra and 4.40 discography, including songs that were recorded in situ. My sister was good friends with some of the guys and they went to the monumento to eat chimis after some presentations in Santiago. Same for so many other Dominicans artists I had the chance to meet via friends and relatives.

I still believe that the best interpretation of our beloved Compadre Juan is in the voice of Francis Santana since when he was part of the Orquesta Antillana of Antonio Morel. He interpreted so many songs while in La Voz Dominicana...

And who can forget Nico Lora (sorry no Spanish in this laptop) or Luis Kalaf?!?

I promise to make your ears dream in ecstasy...

Holy Guacamole!!.....My birthday came early!!......(Now picture Eddie Murphy all happy, saying: "Hercules, Hercules, Hercules, Hercules...."). Wahahahaha!!.

Amazing that I have heard, in one time or another, of just about every single person you mentioned.....More amazing is that I even if I don't have their songs, I have heard them, in one time or another.

There's a question I thought I had the answer to until someone told me it was not the right answer (mind you, he didn't know the right answer either but said he knew my answer was wrong).....Perhaps you can answer it for me:

What was the name of that lead singer who used to wave his long, skinny index finger when he sang?......I believe he was a member of the Rafael Solano's, (or perhaps Francis Santana, or Papa Molina) Orquestra.

Btw: I knew Johnny Ventura was not the original "Compadre Pedro Juan" singer...But I didn't know the Francis Santana sang it it......(Then again, that song was/is so popular the just about everybody sang it).

So I gather you also have a few Anibal De Pena, Felix Del Rosario and Trio Los Ahijados songs, huh?.

Thanks for the video; I would've never found it while searching for that guy.

Now, imagine those guys and Los Hijos del Rey performing the same tune: no chance against young guns Raul?n and Villalona. Agree?
