Robert,

I'm not sure about prostitution being illegal here, I discussed this at length with my Sociology teacher when I was at PUCMM studying, she never could shut up about prostitution, she wanted it legalized so the sex workers could form unions and demand minimum fees, etc. (yes, she is a little bit crazy, but a charming lady very outspoken feminist) Anyway she copied me the page from the constitution that addresses it, and I regret not having the email on hand, however it did seem prostitution was pretty illegal.

Art. 334 of the Dominican Penal Code, as amended by Law 24-97 of 1997.

The law criminalizes the act of pimping in all its manifestations, defining as a procurer or pimp any third party involved in the business of prostitution. It does not criminalize, however, the conduct of the individual, isolated prostitute procuring for herself and having sexual intercourse with a paying partner.

Prostitutes, however, can be detained as material witnesses to the crime of "proxenetismo", for rowdy behavior in public ("esc?ndalo en la v?a p?blica"), etc.

i don't need to know the symantics of a whores private life. if she does it for pleasure, for need, or for what ever floats her boat, no matter the reason, she is still a whore.......

I person that sells their body for monetary gain is a whore, plain and simple, a rose by any other name is still a rose, choose to use what ever word you would like, at the end of the day, she's still a whore, prostitute, trick, hoe , bird, take your pick..... same thing

I don't live over there but my family does, I was not brought up over there. but i am pretty sure i know the mechanics of prostitution, i pay, she gives, do i have it fairly close?

As I said. UNDERSTAND how prostitution works here, if you don't live it, don't talk about it...

What exactly are you suggesting Robert? Do we need to go out and sell ourselves for a few weeks to qualify to participate in this discussion? Is that how you became such an authority on the topic?

I am willing to consider a carreer change, but this seems a little extreme, plus my wife will definitely not approve...

Larry....

I ABSOLUTELY agree, the govt def needs to take a hard look at what is going on in the country...but of course they are too busy being corrupt bastards.

I dont live in DR, so i may not be in my right to speak as freely as to what its like out there, many of u live there day after day and see things first hand...understood, but when i visit, the SH*T i see is incredible...where the HECK are the police when things are going wrong???

IF the govt would take an interest, they would start out with AIDING the needy, the TRULY needy, so that they wouldnt have to be in the streets selling their bodies....such a beautiful country PLAGUED with such a nasty disease.....

QUALITY of life needs to be enforced out there....i dont want to be sitting in a casino with my husband and the MINUTE i walk away the prostitute that was hounding my single guy friend is now sitting next to MY husband asking him if he wants anything!!!!! i just had to laugh....

A short story

The first time I visited DR I saw this white guy in a motor chasing a Dominican woman. I got so incense at the site that, against my better judgment, I started screaming at the guy to leave her alone. He gave me a dirty look and said: "lady, mind your own business, she's my wife." We women always have choices.

Yes and when they are "detained" they have to either pay 500 pesos to the police or perform sexual favors on them to get out of jail.Just anoher example of how the Dominican govt. is to blame. What a joke.I cant believe people actually get angry at tourists when this is going on right under everyones noses.Change has to come from within.

HA! I guess that's why the ones on the beach are all so ugly, the good ones are off "paying fines"...

If your wife had sex with you because you brought her a nice dress, what is she?

"I don't live over there... I was not brought up over there..."

You answered your own question...

No he didn't, but apparently you think she is. All he did was ask a question. You supplied what you think is the answer.
