I never understood what all the hoop-la is about with Villar Hnos. At the very, very best their food is mediocre. I can think of quite a few comedors where the food is much better. The average plato del dia is better tasting than most of the meals at Villar Hnos.

100% agree with you. The food is also served almost freezing cold. And the bread and cakes in their bakery are great if you have any nails that need hammering in.

Cold food is common in DR as propane is expensive and folks tend to not want to turn it back on to warm the food.

You cannot get a wok hot enough to cook Chinese food w propane.
