and remember, American Eagle is stopping flights from STI to SJU too....Jetblue is taking over that route...may they bought all those routes from AA......
if you were to buy a round trip ticket from the states to the DR, you would pay 82.60 (dollars) in dominican taxes and if you were to buy a ticket from the DR to the states, you would pay the same 82.60 plus the itbis on the price of the ticket (now 18 0/0) add that to the 10 tourist card fee and you are paying 92.60 minimum.

May be that JertBlue is hurting them w/ the Samana flight -- was full of Doms when I flew it
What is your best online resource for the most cost-effective tickets?
Well, we flew home to US on AA yesterday, re-routed through Miami after our direct flight into JFK was cancelled. We had a 6.05 am flight, which meant getting up at 3 am, leaving at 3.30 and getting to SDQ by 4ish. Everything in the airport [after immigration, we didn't go upstairs] was closed, no breakfast before the flight. Tight, cramped, uncomfortable full flight to Miami, very old plane.
.
This very old news AA announced that they qould not be flying direct to NY from SDQ more than 3 months ago Delta now has a direct flight and at a much better time and Jet Blue has had the direct light for ages so no loss as AA have been getting worse and worse with their sydden cancelations
