Case in point, a long recent diatribe here about neighborhoods and Section 8 and Democrats, and the poster foolishly failed to research that Section 8 was implemented in 1974 by Richard Nixon.

Its too late cc. The country is lost. Current debt is somewhere between 47 trillion and 150 trillion depending on who you listen to and what you count as debt. Ie unfunded liabilities. Go with the low number of 47 trillion / 300 million persons=Roughly 156000 per man woman and child. Median income in 2012 for a family of four was 65000. How is a family of four with income of 65k going to service a 625k debt? Plus eat, have a home to live in pay for college, etc etc. Currently more than half the country is a net reciever from the govt. they arent going to be voting for positive change. Nope. They will call for closing bases, cutting military, space programs etc., in order free up funds for their free cheese. The government will give them what they want in return for their votes. The progressives have won, for it is getting progressively worse. But at least we have our first black president and in two more years we will elect our first woman president.
The good news is that if Hillary is anything like Bill she will at least govern from the middle. After 16 years of bush and obama i yearn for the days of Bill.

They (the right-wingnuts) biyatched and moaned about Slick Willie as much as they do now. Heck Rush didn't get huge until he coined "Billary". The fact of the matter is that all the social programs together haven't wasted nearly as much as our current wars. People are screaming at the tops of their lungs about some kid receiving $3 a day in food supplement while Haliburton is charging $700 a plate to feed deployed GI's.
The government is giving away far too much in corporate welfare to be accused of being anything close to "progressive" and this President is probably the biggest corporations' Sugar Daddy of them all. To call him a "progressive" is to openly admit the failure to understand what progressive policy is and does.
Don't worry about the national debt. When push comes to shove we can always repeal the Federal Reserve Act, tie the dollar to gold and dare somebody to knock the chip off our shoulders. I have news for you, welfare never was intended for Blacks and at no time has the proportion of White welfare recipients dipped below 80%. On top of the straight up "welfare/food stamp" game there have been farm subsidies which have been buying new pickup trucks for White Farmers and yet unavailable to Black Farmers. Mike Espy (Clinton's USDA Secretary) made a career out of fighting against that little exclusionary policy. I don't get my news from MSNBC, I get it from the people who make it and your goggle eyed fauxnews view of the country that's in your rear view mirror is highly inaccurate and shaped by the hate-spin Drs.

No, more good goes INTO one branch of the military only to get ground up and sent home dead or wounded because of some made up national threat that always ends up being about banks, oil, money, shipping routes and anything else besides what we (those of us who have served the US military) have been told.
It took 40 years for the DoD to own up to the sickness, suffering and death caused to its own troops by agent orange (no survivor benefits there). I wonder how many will have to suffer and die from "Gulf War Syndrome" before they take full responsibility for the use of depleted uranium as a combat strategy and why aren't the Generals who thought that nightmare up under courts martial?

The crazy money we have spent on defense has brought us wealth beyond our dreams. It has brought us this very internet that we are now using to communicate. Your wish has come true. The recipients of welfare by and large don't vote, mainly because they're too lazy to vote. Somebody might see them and put them to work.
We haven't spent money on "defense" since VJ Day. We've spent that money on Offense and we've been at war against poor people all over the planet. I dont like corporate welfare any more or any less than any other type of welfare. But iwas specifically responding to your statement that 80% of recipients are white. They are not. Anyway it seems we agree in part. I am against farmers getting welfare. I would let the poor live in tents or without. I would have let the banks fail, the car companies fail. Screw them and their unions. Arriba toyota. I would let little kids starve if their parents let that happen to them. Or they could turn them over to orphanages. I would willingly contribute to orphanages. In fact i would probably adopt many. But i would teach the kids to fish instead of asking for fish. And i think many other like minded libertarians would also.
It is funny you mention Ayn Rand. I love her writings. She is spot on. I have read Atlas Shrugged. I have read all of her published essays. She really only has one short coming. And that would be here isolationist view of the world. The world is smaller than it ever has been. The oceans no longer act as the barrier it did 100+ years ago.
One other thing, if i remember my constitution correctly and the federalist papers that sold the constitution to the people. The only legitimate function of federal governent is a common defense and ensuring interstate commerce. Feeding kids, farmers, feral pigs or near extinct birds does not fall under either one of those functions.
I also have one question. If rich people get their income from capital gains then how is the bush tax cut for the rich? Or are the bush tax cuts for the wannabe rich. You know the higher earning working class. The ones that are working hard and smart to accumulate wealth. What i think is that both parties are protecting their wealthy contributors. But just come out and say it. We want some of the money (wealth)you have saved up over your lifetime so we can use it on our own pet projects.
Another thing i have never understood, is why people believe that money earned or gained outside the US should be reported to and taxed by the US government. And then wonder why corporations such as Apple or GE dont want to bring their money back home. Why would they? You would have to have a complete disregard for your investors to deliberately lose THEIR money. Lapher curve ?

What I find is generally that on the Neoconservative side, their main affliction is generally whatever they accuse everyone else of. If they say someone is racist, it's because they use that to hide their own. If they say someone cries "victim" they use it to hide their own victimhood. Both the left and the right are full of it. Democrats are self absorbed. Republicans are self righteous. People vote Democrat because they identify with the "little guy" people vote Republican because they feel that the GOP will protect their own entitlements and White privilege which trumps all other entitlements. People look at the Democrats as the protector of the common man, people view the GOP as the protector of White society. Go figure. Both are pretty much the same as they both have their constituents fooled enough to vote against their own interests.
The Republican South, where voters primarily vote GOP all the way, has the bottom 10 states in health care, education, and the highest percentage of individuals on welfare, yet it's the same people who want everyone else's welfare cut while they maintain their own.
