Braulio posted this shot on whatsapp.
it shows nicely thewetsren band i talked about.
it should be a strong high gusting windforce and very likely will contain our Prime Waterload as far as wateramounts within a shortest time frame goes.
this Western Band will hit Punta Cana Head on and it is arriving almosst.

NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL AL152017
500 PM AST Wed Sep 20 2017

An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft found that Maria's
center moved off the northwestern coast of Puerto Rico just before
1800 UTC, but the hurricane appears to have taken quite a hit from
the high mountains of the island. The aircraft measured a maximum
flight-level wind of 106 kt to the east of the center and SFMR
surface winds as high as 91 kt. The initial intensity is therefore
set to 95 kt. The central pressure has also risen considerably, and
the latest report from the airplane is 957 mb.

Maria may have taken a temporary jog west-northwestward across
Puerto Rico, likely due to topographic effects, but the longer-term
motion remains northwestward, or 305/10 kt. Maria should maintain
a northwestward motion for the next 36 hours while it remains on
the southwestern periphery of a mid-level high over the western
Atlantic. After 36 hours, Maria is expected to turn northward
between the high and a broad trough extending from Tropical Storm
Jose southwestward into the Gulf of Mexico. The updated track
guidance remains in excellent agreement on this scenario, and the
overall guidance envelope has shifted a bit eastward on this cycle.
The new NHC forecast is therefore nudged a little east of the
previous forecast toward the various consensus aids.

It may take some time for Maria's structure to reorganize itself
now that it is back over water. Although the intensity models are
not all that enthusiastic about strengthening, the environment
looks conducive for intensification, and the NHC forecast lies at
the upper bound of the guidance, closest to the HWRF solution. It
would not be surprising, however, if Maria eventually strengthens
more than shown here. Some weakening is expected by days 4 and 5
due to increased shear, as well as Maria possibly moving over the
cold wake of Tropical Storm Jose to the east of the Carolinas.

We would like to thank the crew of the latest Air Force Reserve
mission for their incredible service today. After beginning their
mission this morning before the center first moved onshore, the crew
went above and beyond, returning to Curacao to refuel, and then
heading back to Puerto Rico to catch Maria's center when it first
moved back off the coast. The data collected by the crew was
incredibly important for us to analyze Maria's intensity and
structure after moving across the island, and we are grateful for
their effort.

CNN had some clown on the beach at Punta Cana dressed with a hood, etc. He looked like a cat burgler. He tells us that the DR government has mandated a complete evacuation of Punta Cana. People are scurrying to get out of Punta Cana.

News to me living in Punta Cana. The news coverage is total BS.

yeah, tahts how people misinterpret the well done official advisories.
what the Government really did, and they sent it on everybodys smartphone as a short SMS this afternoon, too, is that they said(completely rightfully as precaution as nobody knew at that time how hard Maria got knocked by PR) that verybody on the Front at the Ocean should pack and seek safer locations away from the water.
and i agree completely with such action, everything less would be unresponsible from Official side.
i also watched the official full statement on TV.
it also stated, as usual in every country around the globe i guess, that No Rescue services will be available for the Ocean Front areas to not send rescuers in uncessary harms way.

How many miles off shore is the storm now projected to be by Cabarete?

get your surf board waxed, nothing to fear.
what ever we will report here tonight, you will get a fraction of it.

my estimated 54 miles as the closest approach to PC failed by 4 miles accoording to the now NHC shortrange forecast, so we've been on the right idea since this morning already.

this evening the wind here will rise and i would be surprised no not get some wet stuff loaded down on us, but we will stay on teh safe side.

Maria's Walls will NOT touch any piece of the DR.

house party tonight and outside cleanup tomorrow, thats the master plan.

actually i have a friend who is in punta cana on vacation...they were evacuated to another hotel. this was last night.

all Hotelrooms(in some cases that is the whole Hotel) not approved to withstand hurricane force, been evacuated staring at some resorts already on monday by moving guests to further back buildings and from groundfloor to upper floor rooms.
those moves are mandatory andrun in a joint venture/agreement of the Hoteleria and Ministry of Tourism.

the less far outreaching windfield on the SW of Maria is built by perfect engineuring in my opinion,
as it keeps H-Force Winds on a 10, maybe even 15 miles distance to my Azz here, and that is gooood.

later weekend it could become interesting when the Biach huntsdown her Chulo Jose,
who is still active as a strong TS.
those 2 affecting each others could bring quiet some news when we are finished with teh clean ups.
no worries, none of both will do a Jose-Turn towards us again, not this season.
they have other plans in their dark minds.

sorry for being dumber than a rock but can someone fill me in when is the fun supposed to start here in puerto plata area? i have a person with mobility issues and a slight dementia to look after and i need to know when to expect the hit so i make sure she is all set. i may need to get out to check on her tomorrow morning and then again later in the day and don't want my head blown off by the wind, being a bit empty at the moment.
