Blue Collar Town in New Jersey
Can you give us your exact location? Just so we know where not to send them?

There are wealthy Doms that visit Playa Dorada now, but yeah, they don't mingle outside the big gates.

Not to disagree with how you love Sosua... but you kind of answered your own question there..
If people that close do not even MINGLE in town, what does that tell you..
I salute their Bravery for buying SUPER HIGH Priced ( overpriced imo) Property but when exactly will they feel comfortable enough to bring Little Dylan and Becky to the beach to MINGLE with the Local Childrens ?

answer.... ummmm NEVER...

No, no.

Keep Sosua as is, we do not need it to infect the rest of the country with the plague existent in Sosua so please, maintain them restricted and limited to Sosua and the entire NC.

Those of us in the other side of the country love it the way it is, and feel so sad for you people in the NC and Sosua.

But one thing is correct; no even Dominicans visit Sosua, that tells the tale rather well!

People on the NC feel sorry for anyone living in the south. Lol

Sosua is not the north coast. Sosua is on the north coast and it is what it is unless changes happen. Who knows.

I don't live in Sosua and I would never consider living on the south coast. I don't feel sorry for people there.

No beach town is perfect that is for sure. Out of curiosity, where is your preferred place?

I am sure you do not have to spend your time to feel sorry for people that do not live where you live :).

South Coast too hot and kind of dull.

I was in Playero today looking for trash bags and there was a group of guys, about 7, all walking together, maybe from NY dressed in tank tops and loose athletic shorts, acting stupid like a gang mentality. Not one under 240 lbs, and 3 were pushing 300 lbs and wide as buses, so yeah they plugged up the aisles.

I am sorry but I never traveled in a pack when on vacation - Too me it looks insecure and kind of stupid, and I think that's the way they look to most residents?

But this is a common picture in Sosua . Get rid of the sleezy hookers and these are the type tourists who will go elsewhere - but at what cost ?

Sosua can't rebuilt its image in a year - it could take 5 or more.

And apparently Playero Security didn't like them swarming, as they were being followed ( and I think they were oblivious to it) by at least 4 Playero security people, and several had 5ths of rum or Jack Daniels and the rest were buying hamburger - so sure they were barbecuing tonight, so probably they will have a good time.

But guys when you go in a store you don't all have to be in the same aisle in a pack.

No thank you!

The big DR guys still visiting own the place, hence the random stays.

Why did I expect your kind of answer :). You do not have to feel ashamed to tell people where you live or likes to go.
I hope your progress goes according to plan.

I'm not, actually like it a heck of a lot. If you must know, then, here it goes; I commute to/from SDQ and JD spreading time among the two.

Better than Sosua, right?

Well, anything is truly better than Sosua!

I often wonder why people who have no idea about Sosua, from their obvious comments, and have no intention of visiting by the sound of it, continue to post about it?
I know nothing about, for example, Holesville Idaho so why would I comment on it?
Very odd.

Sosua is what it is and will morph over time with successive administrations with differing agendas so not much us gringos can do about it,but I have to admit that the latest extension to the no parking areas with no provision for alternate car parks does seem typically short - sighted.

Plus ca change...

"Prostitution affects tourism in Sosua"... Yes it does, it brings in the tourists that otherwise wouldn't come, and it's not keeping any tourists away. Rich Capitalenos go to Bavaro, Juan Dolio, Samana, LT, or have vacation homes in Metro. Rich Santiagueros go to Jarabacoa, Confresi, Playa Dorada, or have condos in Sosua Ocean Village or Cabarete. Get rid of the putas they still wouldn't come to Sosua because Sosua has nothing special to offer. Those with less cualto already come to Sosua (or BC) because they can't afford AIs.

If Illana wants to improve Sosua start with putting a few garbage cans on the streets so I'm not forced to throw garbage on the street like a chopo :D. (And get rid of Politur so they don't hassle the putas for 200 pesos or a free BJ, and create a puta stampede every time they drive by.)

I think the type of prostitution that I see at Sosua is certainly affecting the type of tourism that an area would certainly like to get and be known about. As said ,in multiple posts ,the girls are really grotesque ! Let's be realistic....They are.
So, who could be attracted to those ... After visiting many times Sosua and walking in the streets a couple of years ago, I definitively did not want to buy a place at Sosua. I ended buying a place between Sosua and Cabarete and I am glad that my address is Cabarete !
Please,I am not saying that all Sosua is bad. It's not ..But ,walking in the main streets of a city in a tourism area should not be a scenery of grotesque girls.

Question of choice for the municipality : Are they ok with the type of tourism that they are getting or do they really want to attract more traditionnel tourism which include family ?

It's certainly not a one year plan.....

Peace.

So are you saying the possible solution could be letting only the good-looking girls walk the streets? :D

Jason are you new on dr1? are you new in the Country as well? meaning less than 2 years? Just trying to bring clarity to newbies who may read your posts and think they are the standard point of view. Me, 8 years in SD, now just over 1 year in NC, near Sosua, not in the city. I will tell you this. I wish I made the move 8 years ago. SD is dirty, busy, noisy, nightmare with no clean air or worthwhile beaches. And the traffic alone!!! IMO. And if its prostitutes that cloud your vision as to what makes an area nice. They have tons in the Capital as well. Both cities you can avoid these types without much issue. BTW, does anyone else really care where the wealthy doms visit? does this mean something? After so many years in SD, I prefer the safety and sanity of dealing more with Expats and their businesses.

Will certainly attract new profile of touristes .
However still not solve the problem to have a center of the city more family oriented as I mentioned in my post !
