NYC-SDQ BABY!
I like Bravo, but man the one on Churchill(in the capitol) is always freaking crowded. The lines usually extend into the aisles and i just dont have the patience.

I like the 2 that I know of here in SD only problem is they are so far and hard to get too during the week. I am in the colonial zone an the 2 I know of are on Churchill and Nunez. think there is one on the other side of the river but never been to it. but the ones I have been to have great selection and prices.
There is another one slightly closer to you, which is on a side street off 27 de Febrero. It's the street on the right after the Volvo dealership / Mapfre, can't remember the name. Turn right there and the Bravo is on the left.

Bravo in Santiago
It has become the victim of its own success. Theyhave had to open a parking lot across the street (Av. Argentina).

However, axxhole drivers cause almost all of the traffic delays. And most do not know how to park. I find that very late at night of very early in the monings, never on the 15th or 30th, never on Saturday is the rule.

They have a lot of stuff from China that I steer clear of. I can concur that their meats, including their sausage and salami is very well done. Their produce is excellent. They make their own white cheeses and yogurt. They have a pretty fair dieting section. They are strong on wines but no beer in Santiago. We use several of their house brands that are packed in places other than China. Mushrooms for example.

I think I will try a couple of bags of their dog food which we used to buy, but PriceSmart has some better deals. However, that situation has changed and PriceSmart no longer beats them on price or quality. (I am relying on Mr. Webster's post some time ago regarding quality. With four dogs and four cats, this is a major monthly purchase.

Ahhh,,,Their deli department is very good. With excellent cheeses and cuts of ham, salami and such at good prices and excellent quality, IMO.

I have to say that their coffee suks, big time, and is, in my curmudgeony opinion, barely drinkable if you are really hard up. Also their TP is very poor quality. Familiar is much, much the better buy.
Cleaning supplies, from Cloro to Fabric Softener are very good.
One item where they are really all fugged up is their price of OJ concentrate, the one from Barceló. At Pricemart it used to be around 400+. So I picked up a gallon at Bravo. They wanted 800+ for the same product. I flipped out, of course.

Oh yes. Since keto is now the diet of the month, they have a very good section of keto products at near US (Amazon) prices. Well priced if you are going to do keto. Not cheap, but then they are not cheap in the states either.

That's my take.

They don't sell alcohol in any of their stores, except wine. It's a religious thing for the owner and since the Bible only mentions wine, then...

You will never see at a Bravo beer or rum or tequila or vodka or whatever alcohol, except wine. Who knows if this will change once the founder dies, but he's healthy and looks to live a few more decades.

I've bought naan in Nacional, but it's not as good as the real thing because it's full of preservatives. Chapatis are easy enough to make.

Yes, but Bienamor lives in the Colonial Zone. Given that detail, close is not how I would consider that store. That's like mentioning the other store they open in SDE which is visible from the autopista de Las Américas. Far, far, far...

Their 64 oz Bravo jugo de naranja without sugar added is a bargain at RD129...at least 40 to 50 pesos cheaper than elsewhere...

Bravo has slowly been taking a larger market over the last few years. Their religious beliefs probably set them back more than anything. Besides the Sunday closing they loose out greatly with the boose ban. When their warehouse burnt down they had no insurance becuase they dont believe in insurance only the will of god. Their wine is mediocre at best with barely palatable brands that are mostly unknown. Some of the brands are packaged for the DR middle class. I would prefer one good bottles than 3 bad ones for the price of 2. A friend of mine was frogmarched out of Bravo by security once for having a beer in her hand during Christmas. The meat is hit and miss. Sometimes you can get great steaks if you are lucky. Bread which is generally good can also pull its surprises. Some of the fresh fruit and vedge is export reject. Not that it makes a big difference on the flavor but if you look closely you will see some defect or odd shape. On the whole they do sell most main household consumption items at a reasonable price but if you are looking for qualty look elsewhere.

..As a fan of Bravo Santiago. 2 days ago this changed.. beware of the parking lot, and the worthless security guards..arrived a little late in the day the parking lot was a circus.. nowhere to park, and cars filling every driveway( Dominicans are not at their best in these conditions)..after waiting for a young man to leave his parking spot which he did he drove by me and hit my rear quarter panel with his borrowed jeepeta. then he tried to escape, but alas he was trapped by traffic..I jumped out of my car ran to his and reached in the open window taking the keys out of the ignition of his jeepeta, called him a as##ho##. Then I asked him for his insurance card, when guess what no insurance, no marbete, no licence, no papers on the borrowed jeepeta told him he was in big trouble..he then gave me 2k pesos, not near enough..told the security guard to call police and handle the traffic as the 2 vehicles were blocking the whole parking lot .. marched him inside the store to the atm where he withdrew 30k pesos that went in my wallet, then told him to leave fast before the police got there.. by this time the whole parking lot was in a riot.went home fixed the paint scrape with rubbing compound and wax..this morning I am off to Pricemart …..Doc....

Aren't you just a ray of sunshine. Where you you think is the best quality shopping in the DR?

I have to say I’ve never seen a person drinking a beer inside a supermarket. Anywhere. Am I not paying attention? Is this common?
