Indeed it has.
Now its time to open
up and get things
moving. If ya old, gimp, fat
or have pre existing issues
then stay home. In the mean
time, the rest of us have lives
to live.

I would add if you're scared, you too stay home. That's not a slight as some peeps are just that way, highly risk averse when it comes to health. I'm highly risk averse when it comes to finance

Not relevant unless hospitals start to trend up.

4-June - 2,093 Hospitalized, 100 in ICU -- Reporte #66

6-June - 2,339 Hospitalized, 103 in ICU -- Reporte #68

8-June - 2,471 Hospitalized, 112 in ICU -- Reporte #69

9-June - 2,554 Hospitalized, 116 in ICU -- Reporte #70

11-June - 2,788 Hospitalized, 124 in ICU -- Reporte #72

Over this same period of time the Basic Reproduction Number Ro (Factor de Infeccion) has increased from 1.01 to 1.03.

Those numbers are spooky but its time to get on with it.
And what we forgot to mention was over 6,000 people
passed away from influenza here in the Dominican Republic
last year.

Fuzzy math.

Yes,
Due to limited testing and resources in the DR, we have no real idea of how many people are infected.
Neither is it clear how many die of CV19.

It can be assumed that many governments want to resume commercial activities, in order to have some income sources for government and the economy.
The importance of the tourism industry to the DR is understood by everyone.
Let's hope that in the future tourists are treated with respect and protected in the DR.

All this chatter about the politicos taking advantage...

the cases are on the increase, the death rate will follow in time

surely the politicos know
Dead people can’t vote

You know any covid positive folks Willy? I don't. Oh yeah the famous folks. Are they incentivized also to mark deaths as Coby? Give me a break

As you know CristoRey, I had to take a friend to the hospital, Centro Medico in Puerto Plata the other day. I've only been there a few times but I NEVER saw the ER so quiet. My friend got in and saw a doc in record time. I commented to a nurse about how quiet it was and she just shook her head and agreed. I didn't ask but I did not hear ANYONE talking about COVID nor did I see/hear anyone coughing and sneezing. - I say OPEN EVERYTHING UP NOW!

I know of none... but my group seems adept at staying away from it....
while still getting on w/ life

Personally... 2 trips to STI (dentist and Bravao/Nacional), multiple Playero trips
Super Pola.... daily or 2x daily outings to shop, see the world etc

If you behave - you'll be fine --- should be fine

I truly don't think it's humanly possible to escape exposure. I haven't had flu since I was a child. I don't get colds. I never had the chicken pox. The only reason I would feel under the weather would be because of a month long rum tare. That said if it's a real virus, I definitely don't want anything to do with it. Having kids in the school system, I have to wonder if we were exposed.
