you miss the point entirely.
The idea is that the behavior is perfectly legal in this country and there is no problem other than the extreme delicate sensibilities of a few people to force through a fix for a problem that does not exist.
An example of what is so often found on this site where folks make up a problem then propose a fix.
Forcing businesses to shutter and move

They're implementing zoning. Normally a town would "grandfather" a practice that allowed the business or homeowner to continue what they were doing - since the business and the working girls were there prior to the zoning change. In the case of working girls in an area that's no longer zoned for it, that won't work - will it? So the businesses have to comply. Or move to the area zoned for it. It's really that simple.

And it's not like this happened overnight. A lot of people knew this was coming 10+ years ago.

shutter and move is a heavy price to pay in order to appease other peoples views.

Most people who visit a city and find it allows behavior you find offensive will not decide to move there.
The working girls were here long before you moved here and their activity was well known.
There is no problem and no need to herd the girls into a corner and out of sight.
The issue is a straw man argument where you create a problem where none exists and then offer up a solution.

My view is that the girls will not move and the businesses that think they will do well at the end of the street will fail.
The business owners and the few who thought they would make a pile of cash will be the losers.
At this point it is all speculation and time will tell.

We are all are still waiting for the families moving into our city now that we are all safe from the working girls.

It's Dominicans who want this change, and it's only Dominicans that can implement the change. I have nothing to do with it.

The point is to move them more out of sight to the east end of PC. Some people STILL DON'T seem to get this.

Will you like Sosua after it undergoes a bit of a change to one small part of one street?
Dominicans in government and business will decide, and possibly foreign tourism developers if willing to invest.
Clean up and improvement to infrastructure and traffic will be positive if they ever happen on a professional level.

The Sosua beach with shade trees needed restaurants and seating is the unique drawing factor.
On the one block stretch of Pedro, offices and shops are not needed.
It's the hub of tourism on the way and back from the beach, for people to enjoy tropical outdoor atmosphere including in the evening.

Cabarete beach is a flavourless generic beach.
Cabarete infrastructure has seen no improvement to traffic, architecture and atmosphere, positive change has not happened in all the years.
Visit other Caribbean resorts with cruise passengers such as the ABC islands.
Made for US cruise passengers devoid of atmosphere and taste, a Vegas type vacation with the ocean in front.

Spandex Haitian queens and a few Dominican women are well off on the end of P.C.
I feel sorry for the condo owners in this area, there are some nice buildings.
Investment value down, they weren't looking to live in nightlife heaven.
The JetBlue weekend warriors and girls with associated low class people will not be missed by me.
Discretion and good manners are free if they were applied there would have been less reaction.

Anyone with language skills or a sense of adventure has the whole island at their disposal,
With many attractive options.

It was overwhelmingly Dominicans that pushed for and brought about this change - not a handful of posters here on DR1.

I guess it could help regarding implementing the changes that the women are mostly haitians now and not Dominicans so much anymore supporting Dominican families.

On the converse one could consider it Haiti desaster and humanitarian aid.
Donate as you see fit, possibly to both sides.
As Windy says "It's here, there and everywhere".

It does not matter that prostitution is not illegal if there are ways to work around it not being illegal to minimize the view of the world's oldest profession.
This reduction in viewing is being done by moving bars and discos off one small section of one street in Sosua.

That is the point you seem to be missing. Hooking might not be illegal, but there are several work arounds that have been tried and this one stood up in the courts even against the Mayor of the town.

shutter and move is a heavy price to pay in order to appease other peoples views.

The "important" people with the "views" are the ones in Santo Domingo who want the changes. It has been that way for only about 10 years.
Most people who visit a city and find it allows behavior you find offensive will not decide to move there.
The working girls were here long before you moved here and their activity was well known.
There is no problem and no need to herd the girls into a corner and out of sight.

Take that up with the people in Santo Domingo who want this done. After all, it isn't the Mayor since he was one of the people who lost the lawsuit.
My view is that the girls will not move and the businesses that think they will do well at the end of the street will fail.
Who thinks the businesses will do well at the end of the street? "They" in Santo Doming could care less if they fail. The girls can take up one one sales an marketing.

The business owners and the few who thought they would make a pile of cash will be the losers.
At this point it is all speculation and time will tell.
There are two statements I agree with.
We are all are still waiting for the families moving into our city now that we are all safe from the working girls.
Job one is to move the girls out of sight. If anything improves after that, as you say that is speculation and time will tell. First things first. It's time to clear out one small part of one street in Sosua. Will you miss it?

Ok guys, for the ones that knew JJ & Rocio or used paradise - transportation services about 14 years ago...
Hopefully we will be in Sosua for two weeks this month.
We went down there on vacation two month ago and decided to buy a place right there on Pedro Glisantic st.
I am 2 years away from my early retirement age.
Getting ready to live 5 minutes walking distance from the beach.

JJ
Good for you. Where I live unoccupied apartments are rented on airbnb and get a lot of business. Our apartments are 2 bedrooms, don't know how one bedroom apartments do., however, we do get some inquiries for a one bedroom apartment

"prime property" Sosua !!,. lmao, where is this magical location in Sosua prey tell. inquiring minds and investors are curious. I have heard for years about the Chinese investors buying the casino in Cabarete and turning it into a shangra la, it is still a ghost. What about that super prime location east of Sosua proper, that closed casino hotel with trees growing out of the roof. It has been defunct for ten plus years. Is that prime?
