As a Boca Chica resident for over 2 years, I disagree. There's an area when the putas hang and it's easy to just avoid it. I can't remember the last time I was prop'd by a puta. Hopefully the streak continues.
I apologize. I didn’t mean to bash all of Boca Chica. My point is it’s difficult to complete ignore that scene in any tourist area in the DR. In Las Terrenas there is also a scene.

One good economic impact might be the mongers would chip in to rent more cars because it's a long walk to the east end of PC for a 50+ year old overweight man used to cooler weather.

Oh and Bailees might have tables actually available for serving just breakfasts without the happy ending.

Always thought that common sense was the reason for not riding on a moto. Your Bailees comment reminds me of the Yogi Berra quote.....nobody goes there any more because the place is too busy.

'Tourism Day' celebration at Casa Marina Beach Resort

Friday, October 1, the 'Tourism Day' was celebrated in a grand manner in the Amphitheater of Casa Marina Beach Resort. The event was organized by the ADOMPRETUR SOSUA CABARETE foundation. A foundation whose members are journalists and who make an effort to draw attention to tourism in an attractive way. All representatives of civil society organizations were invited to this festive gathering. Among them mayor Wilfredo Olivences and city councilors. Several representatives of civil society organizations gave speeches expressing the hope that Sosúa will become more attractive for family tourism.

Cabarete should develop further as an internationally acclaimed water sports resort. The lawyer and author Omar Messón delivered a treatise on the development of tourism in Sosúa. That even in the late 19th century Sosúa was visited by residents of Puerto Plata and Santiago because of the beautiful beach. In the 80s of the last century mass tourism started with the construction of Playa Dorado and the construction of an airport near Puerto Plata. Until then, Sosúa was mainly visited by families, but that changed with the arrival of mass tourism. At the moment, the government, supported by all social organizations, want to make Sosúa a tourist destination for family tourism again. The reorganization of the beach and the relocation of the bars and discos to the end of the Pedro Clisante are examples of this. This meeting was also brightened up with performances by a folkloric dance group from Puerto Plata.

Too little, too late Willie.
As a Santiaguero I am looking forward to the day I can walk down
PC and not have to hear big mouth loud obnoxious weekend warriors
complaining about being ripped-off by street hustlers or how much they
paid some spandex gorilla the night before.

Simps, gimps, muppets and the lot are being relocated. Although I do not
think most of those business will last once those residents start complaining.
It's well over due in my opinion and should have happened years ago.

Sosua's problems really started gaining notoriety around the same time a
particular group of idiots began posting dozens of videos on YouTube highlighting
many of the negative things happening in and around PC.
Yes, many Dominicans were well aware of the debauchery
taking place in and around Sosua on a daily basis. Most were willing to
turn a blind eye to it until it became a topic of international conversation.
Discretion?
"Nah, no need to act like a guest in a foreign country."
"I'm ballin' down here" (mom would be so proud of me)

Good riddance.

Sir Rey, The weekend warriors aint going anywhere. If anything there are more of them. When I use POP airport 80 percent of the flight is single gents. Throw in a few Red Cross and religious groups and that is it. No one carrying golf clubs, no families and no older well heeled peeps. One gentleman told me his fraternity has been hosting a very large annual get together for over 15 years. They rent several large casas in a well known community. They are dropping some significant coin.

These are early days. Sosua didn't become a mess overnight, and it will take time to turn it around. The important thing is the first steps are being taken.

Anyone who knows how change is made doesn't expect an overnight, dramatic change. I expect the hotels and residents of Sea Horse Ranch and the other residential communities on the outskirts to lead the way

Oh OK, Change has been underway for over a decade. However if there is a time when a Marriott property opens up and takes my points, I am for it.

Maybe their plan could be to divert them to Punta Cana where it’s not so obvious as it’s much bigger. I am just guessing though.

Not trying going off-topic but I've lived in enough "developing" countries to understand if the top dogs
ever decide they want the foreign monger crowd gone, they will be gone within a matter of days.
This President is first and foremost a business man. He attended both Harvard University and Dartmouth
up in New Hampshire. He's worth a cool 75 million. If he and his team ever decide enough is enough,
these "warriors" along with the "business owners" they deem a nuisance to their agenda will be shut down
and shown the door so fast it will make their head's spin. Again, I've seen it happen in other countries and
would not be surprised at all if something similar were to happen in Sosua in the not too distant future.

I think to put his net worth at 75 million is shorting him. He has vast off shore holdings as reported by the Wash Post 3 days ago. He rubs elbows with the king of Jordon. He cares not about Sosua period
