Yup, Southwest Airlines had to cancel thousands of their flights over the weekend because pilots and flight attendants wouldn't submit to their vaccine mandate BS.

BUT they blamed the cancellations on "bad weather".. as if there was a storm last weekend accross the US that cancelled thousands of flights all at once... Lol how pathetic of them, they get what they deserve.
You are right there is some kind of news blackout by the powers that be in the states...no weather thing disrupting the flights but workers standing up against the vaccine mandates... Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued executive order banning vaccine mandates "by any entity" in state...and guess where the headquarters of Southwest is located...fight back is on...

Found this article interesting.
Claims tourist will not be allowed to their rooms prior to presenting the proper documentation. There is a reason the Dominican Republic's tourism numbers have skyrocketed recently and this definitely aint it.

"Renzo Saavedra, general manager of the Discovery Hotel, told journalists of the Listín Diario that all the hotel staff is already immunized, and a few days ago the Ministry of Tourism supervised them.
“The Ministry of Tourism has given us supervision and each one of us had to take some exams according to the policy of each hotel. The person or guest attending with a reservation, the first requirement will be the negative PCR or antigen test and the vaccination card to access the room,” he highlighted.
Saavedra emphasized that after the announcement of the measure they have a 24-hour service for Covid-19 testing.
“At any time the user wants to take a test, the doctor will visit the room or if the client prefers to go to her office, he can do so,” the general manager emphasized.
José, manager of the La Tradición grocery store, said that they have everything ready to receive people. He also pointed out that every day he takes the opportunity to encourage his regular customers to get vaccinated since from the 18th of this month they will require the card.
In the aforementioned premises, they will only receive less than 20 people."

I wonder if this will be the same requirement for the 1000s of cabana rooms in the DR? . Will both parties be required to show their negative results/ or jab cards before driving pass the garage door, or after entering the room? Asking for a friend.....

Sigh.
How is that simple graph on its own meant to convey anything other than to rouse and shock.
Increased numbers of Covid cases?
Okay.
Why?
Are the hospitalizations and deaths rising in tandem?
If a person really wants to know the answers to those questions in plain unadulterated english, The Blaze is not the best place to go.

But the city's high vaccination rate is keeping people from suffering the worst effects of the virus. Authorities said on Sunday that 98% of people infected in the last 28 days have recorded mild or no symptoms of COVID-19. Singapore is discovering asymptomatic cases by testing close contacts of infected individuals. Kenneth Mak, Singapore’s director of medical services, told Singapore’s Straits Times last week that the vaccinated in Singapore have been 12 times less likely to die or require hospitalization than the unvaccinated.

In Singapore, and elsewhere, Delta-driven outbreaks are leading to higher rates of breakthrough infections among the vaccinated. But such infections are not necessarily a cause for concern due to the protection from severe disease and death that vaccines offer.

The article will put a little meat on the bones of the graph that, on its own, means nothing at all.
Again.
Sigh.

Deaths and hospitalizations were not the topic of conversation - breakthrough infections were and the graph clearly shows that. Also, deaths are going up(although still low) contrary to what the article stated. You seem to be having a problem with cognitive dissonance. I'll leave further spin and "explanations" to our expert virologists and epidemiologists here.

I think you missed something.

Inquired at a LaSirena in Santiago today, whether foreign vaccine " cards"/QR codes would be valid.

Lady at desk had no idea, so called her superior over, who told me he didn't see why they wouldn't , ie a proof of vaccine is a proof of vaccine.

I insisted a bit, explaining that I travel a fair bit to get to their shop, and would like to know for sure before planning another trip in a month.

So he got on the phone and called his " boss ".
She came to the desk, and I explained all over again.
She said she had zero idea on how the new law was going to be implemented.......nobody had bothered explaining anything to them.
6 days from the deadline..... That's what I call organization 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I was at banco popular a sucursal in SD as I needed to change official something I couldn’t do online so had to go and wanted to take care of it before the big day. The lady in the bank at customer service who helped me said she had no idea. So still no memo sent around. Also the security guy outside when waiting I asked him. No clue either.

Two questions for the superior intellects mocking those who take the government seriously and encouraging them to do otherwise

1. Don't you know that your posts are being read by Dominicans in authority?

2. Are you sure protection of your identify is guaranteed by DR1?

I don't know how the question will be answered by Dolores and her crew, but years ago when Robert was part of the team, when we were involved in a similar sort of issue, his answer was "no" when the question came up.

Are posters saying they are not going to comply or are they questioning if it can work and how it’s going to work ? And are we not just trying to find out how we can best comply. Compared to what I read Dominicans posting on Instagram the posters here are less critical. I find however the comments regarding false vaccination cards crossing the line a little.

It surprises me anyone can be so conceited as to make comments that can be interpreted as promoting falsifying vaccination certificates in a country not their own at a time the government is actively warning against that

Did you read the article? Lots of cross references where data came from.
Leaky vaccines might be a reality because spike proteins are being used.
This is not the only internet site advancing this hypothesis
I did read it. You are correct that even conspiracy theory sites do have some correct information.

If if you recall, I mentioned from day one that CV19 is here, there and everywhere to stay.
I stand by those words.

As for the vaccine cards and verification. Each card has a unique bar code and is entered into a data base along with name and cedula or passport number.

A likely method for enforcement will be public health officials doing spot checks are various locations.
If there are fake vax cards out there, some will be caught by this method and examples made of them.

Also, what is the penalty for a business owner allowing someone in without checking that they at least have proof of vaccination?
Spot checks of business for people without proof of vaccination could be costly.

While I am not discouraging anyone who wants to get a vaccine and makes that choice on their own to do so, we need to be realistic about the vaccines - They are not doing as promised and may in fact be actually hindering herd immunity.
I know those who are riding the vaccine surfboards think they are riding the smart wave, but it won't be much longer until even they will admit the vaccines are not the panacea promised.
So I fault no one should they choose to not get vaccinated. Peer-pressure, government over reach and social shaming are the recent forms of cancel-culture and it needs to be squashed to let people make their own decisions based on their research into what evidence they deem relavent.

In an October 3, 2021, substack article,1 Alex Berenson dissects a recent Eurosurveillance report2 about a SARS-CoV-2 Delta outbreak in an Israeli dialysis ward. Eurosurveillance is a journal published by the European Centers for Disease Control.

Israeli Hospital Outbreak Reveals the Ineffectiveness of COVID Jabs

An unidentified dialysis patient came in for scheduled treatment with fever and cough. Over the course of several days, his condition continued to deteriorate, but he remained in the dialysis unit at the Meir Medical Center.

COVID measures at the hospital includes routine wearing of full protective equipment by all COVID unit staff, including N-95 mask, face shield, gown, gloves and hair cover. Patients also wear surgical masks when in the same room as another patient.

By the time the sick patient was tested and diagnosed with COVID-19, he had a PCR cycle threshold (CT) of 13.6, which means he had a viral load approximately 1 million times higher than a person with mild infection.

The infection spread rapidly among patients and staff, spreading from the dialysis ward to the COVID-19 ward and other units. At the time of the outbreak, 238 out of 248 (96%) of the exposed patients and staff had been fully vaccinated with Pfizer’s mRNA vaccine. Of the 238 fully vaccinated individuals, 39 (16%) were infected, as were three of the 10 unvaccinated individuals who got exposed.

Near-Maximum Vaccination Rate Yet No Herd Immunity

While all of the sickened staff recovered, five infected patients died and nine turned into severe or critical cases. All of the dead and severe/critical cases were fully vaccinated. Two unvaccinated patients who were infected only had mild illness. As noted by the authors:

“The calculated attack rate among all exposed patients and staff was 10.6% (16/151) for staff and 23.7% (23/97) for patients, in a population with 96.2% vaccination rate (238 vaccinated/248 exposed individuals).

Moreover, several transmissions probably occurred between two individuals both wearing surgical masks, and in one instance using full PPE, including N-95 mask, face shield, gown and gloves …

This nosocomial outbreak exemplifies the high transmissibility of the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant among twice vaccinated and masked individuals. This suggests some waning of immunity, albeit still providing protection for individuals without comorbidities …

This communication … challenges the assumption that high universal vaccination rates will lead to herd immunity and prevent COVID-19 outbreaks…

In the outbreak described here, 96.2% of the exposed population was vaccinated. Infection advanced rapidly (many cases became symptomatic within 2 days of exposure), and viral load was high.

Another accepted view is that, when facing a possible mismatch between the SARS-CoV-2 variant and vaccine or waning immunity, the combination of vaccine and face mask should provide the necessary protection.

Although some transmission between staff members could have occurred without masks, all transmissions between patients and staff occurred between masked and vaccinated individuals, as experienced in an outbreak from Finland.”

This case tells us a couple of important things. First, that even in a population where more than 96% are fully vaccinated, outbreaks will occur. This means the shots are clearly not even remotely creating any kind of herd immunity. Indeed, there have been outbreaks even in populations where the vaccination rate was 100%.

Secondly, the unvaccinated who got sick had only mild illness, while the fully vaccinated all ended up with severe infection. The unvaccinated recovered without a problem while several of the fully vaccinated patients died.

Thirdly, it tells us masks, face shields and gloves provide little more than a false sense of security. Altogether, this report is evidence that everything we’re currently doing is foolishness.
