RE: Israeli outbreak

How long ago were the vaccinations given?
They weaken over time....
Any boosters given ?? Article doesn't say

I am going for my booster (Sinovac#3) when I return next week

It surprises me anyone can be so conceited as to make comments that can be interpreted as promoting falsifying vaccination certificates in a country not their own at a time the government is actively warning against
Two questions for the superior intellects mocking those who take the government seriously and encouraging them to do otherwise

1. Don't you know that your posts are being read by Dominicans in authority?

2. Are you sure protection of your identify is guaranteed by DR1?

I don't know how the question will be answered by Dolores and her crew, but years ago when Robert was part of the team, when we were involved in a similar sort of issue, his answer was "no" when the question came up.

As I read in an article online:

"I am, by the way, intimately familiar with mandates. I’m married".

You are 100% correct - there is no need to have this regulation.
No need, perhaps. Yet it is a regulation starting on October 18 and:

We are not the tails that are going to wag this mandate dog away.

With 5 days to go before this vaccine card mandate is scheduled to start it would be nice if the Govt issued more specific information. Exactly what constitutes a "digital vaccination card" and a list of which establishments will be exempt if any for example.

I am leary of having to hand over my phone so some random stranger can better read the information. Someone who has touched 1000 other phones or plasticized cards that day doesn't sound particularly hygienic to me.

I do not see any exemptions for businesses. It appears to include all businesses open to the public. From Dominican Today:

The Dominican Republic bans unvaccinated people from entering public places.

Dominican health authorities ordered that from 18 October, those over 12 years of age who have not received two doses of vaccines against covid-19 will not be allowed to enter workplaces in enclosed spaces or study centers, nor will they be allowed to use public transport.

Those who do not present their vaccination card indicating the completion of two doses will also be prevented from entering restaurants, wineries, discotheques, clubs, shopping malls, stores, casinos, sports centers, and any other place of entertainment.

Those over 12 years of age who have not received two doses will be allowed to enter these places as long as they present a negative PCR test for covid-19 with at least 14 days of validity.

The Ministry of Public Health also reiterated that the use of masks is mandatory in public places and hand washing and physical distancing.

The image of the DR vaccination cards in the news with two vaccinations was clear. Here you go in case you missed it. Not the unique bar code and the blocked out ID number (probably a DR cedula in this case):

Don't want to hand over your phone? I guess you can show your DR vax card.

What about Expats/Snowbirds with other types of cards or proof? That remains to be seen since they are a very small number and not normally considered in such regulations.

You may ask about those millions of tourists, that stay for a week or two in AI resorts, and that is certainly a million peso question.

I read somewhere on DR1 Yesterday that tourists will be asked for proof of vaccination or tested at the resorts when they check in. The 14 day validity period for a negative Covid test result seems tailored to the 2 week AI crowd.

Then that answers the question for 90% percent of tourism.

I am at Downtown Center in SD today. Was just at the vax center and they said I could get the second jab. But the capsules hadn’t arrived for today but they are open until 6 pm. There were many there waiting. Having coffee and waiting and will spend the day doing this. Will report later how it went.

Gov. plays hardball; holdouts flock to get Covid shot

Vaccination-12.jpeg

Santo Domingo.- After the announcement of sweeping new regulations in the government offensive against Covid-19, which includes presenting the vaccination card in some public and private places, those who had ignored the inoculation process have now opted for immunization.
Dr. Lisbert Pérez Ortiz, responsible for the fixed point of inoculation that works in the karate pavilion of the Olympic Center, explained that they have been vaccinating over 300 people and that at least 160 are first doses, for 44% of the daily total.
According to Pérez Ortiz, the remaining 56% is divided between those under 12 years of age and young adults.
This is the same population group that is also attending the immunization post at the Moscoso Puello hospital, where this Tuesday even lines were registered to access the space enabled to vaccinate.

The way I read it, you have to have been fully vaccinated for a minimum of two weeks before it's valid(?).

I just got my second jab Sinovac so I am good to go for the 18th. It didn’t take long as soon as the vaccines arrived. I noticed they registered my cedula with the machine.

Point taken. Ok so it worked regarding getting more people to hurry up and get vaccinated including me. But I still think it’s going to be very difficult to implement the new restrictions the 18th. I talked to some employees at Downtown Center. They will have to show the vax card to go to work. That part of course will work but what about the visitors to the mall.
