This is heartbreaking, I am very sorry for her family. They have been through years of seeing just how this country works through the eyes of sweet Lindsay and I'm sure they may have expected this but it is still a downright shock never the less. Well the only thing now is to hope something changes before they are actually released. Hopefully some media presence will help influence to keep them there longer.

I truly believe in Karma and knowing they will never be free, even if released, is the only thing I can now believe in. I hope she haunts their every sleep and they see her in their every day life wherever they may go.

😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭

My condolences again to Lindsay's family and all of you that knew her personally. This "verdict" must feel like a slap in the face knowing that these 4 were guilty as sin and are going to walk.
Hopefully karma will strike them dead. And a very painful death too.

I hope it affects tourism negatively. It will have no effect otherwise. Disgusting.

This country needs a slap in the face. This verdict is one more thing making me question why I’ve bothered to return. Highest rates of femicides in the world and no change in sight.

May Danilo and his goons rot in hell.

I take comfort in the fact that Matilda’s legacy will live on in all those she helped. She once helped me navigate a criminal record check needed for work after I left the DR. We number in the hundreds if not thousands.

Either way it makes the DR "justice" system look bad.

They either let 4 guilty men walk free, or they locked up 4 innocent people for 3 years.

A bunch of donkeys, if you ask me.

I hate to ask the question, but does anyone know if they will get compensation for wrongful imprisonment?

Why did she have her husband murdered?
Sorry if that is the impression you got from that sentence. Her husband was murdered by a distant cousin over an unpaid debt that the distant cousin refused to pay. When asked for the money, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her husband in the neck, cut the artery.

I hope that Lindseys family is at least able to make sure Lindsey's property is secured and this vile animal can't profit from it.

Both of their houses were in both names. I thought with Dominican law the surviving spouse gets half and children the other half. She had no children, so does it go to her mother/siblings?

Dominican law ? Remember there is not a strong rule of law.

I can't express how sad and mad I am about this verdict.
I am convinced that there is no justice in the Dominican Republic.
My sympathies to her family and friends.

I have a few questions that maybe AlterEgo could answer ..Were the three judges male or female?? Did they give a brief reason for their findings and finally what did the prosecuting lawyers suggest was the reason for acquittal.

Very disappointing. Yet, us gringos will sit back and do nothing and let it happen to another one of us. Our voices will be silent, and we will continue to give money to help this country.....or marry a sankey or chapiadora. We tolerate it, that is the problem.
What would you suggest "we gringos" do ? Unless you have citizenship you can't even vote - much less have any say in how this country runs.
I would also caution anyone thinking of getting involved - the Dominican "revenge factor" has proven to be deadly.
