I would not bet on that one. The exemption reads for current holders of Residency. You better check with a US Immigration Lawyer................

Who is exempt from the ban

  • 1. Green card holders
    2. Dual citizens, including U.S. citizens who also have citizenship of one of the banned countries

You are such a glass half empty guy. Every situation is different. In this case, the child already has a US passport, and the mother is just waiting for her papers. She has already had her first interview, just waiting for her medical.

If she has a US Passport why does she need a Visa. I don't understand the situation at all. Explain it to me then................

Another hit piece on the Dominican Republic by "journalist" who've zero concern for any of the
real problems this country is dealing with on a daily basis. More proof (as if we really needed any)
these bleeding heart liberals are scum!

Also you have to take a DNA test along with the child to verify you are the father. You pay and wait for the result. This before they do anything..........
Also goes without saying. This has been around for a long time because of kidnapping and divorce situations of child custody.

I know you are old. The child is a declared and registered American citizen, the mother isn't. They are waiting for her approval. Not difficult to understand.

A few of our Haitian students have been coming and going with a Haitian woman who is not their mother because of the activities of immigration. She is a legal resident, maybe even a Dominican citizen. She is light skinned and was married to a Dominican guy. She said Immigration never even asks her for papers because they think she is Dominican. I think all but one of our Haitian students were born in the DR. Several are waiting for their American residency papers.

So I am old? Read what you said above. ...........If I am old, you are ancient Bob..............Haitian students waiting for American Residency..........

My friend here had a child with a Dominican mother. He had to go to the US Embassy in SD many times, get all sorts of documentation and it took quite awhile. But he did get her a US Passport. That was 20 years ago. So yes she is a US citizen, but she has to prove it to the US...............She can't travel with any kind of Visa on a Haitian Passport. She needs a US one........
I am a US citizen and have a Colombian daughter, the process is very simple. The proof you speak of comes from a DNA test (not always required) and the father's name on her birth certificate and only two trips to the embassy if you have your chit together if your friend had to make multiple trips then he didn't have it together.

I'm wondering if you're the same fella I met/ chatted with over breakfast when I was living in Sosua back in 2013? At the time you were back and forth between Medellin y the DR. Name was Tom.
Would have been at Lorenzo's / New Garden Hotel.

Small world.
I have tendency to remember people if they've something interesting to talk about, which at that point in time would have been your experiences/ time in Colombia.
