I've been having a look at live webcams from different places in Dom Rep. Right now Santo Domingo Colonial Zone is a light breeze and it looks like the rain's stopped there. Bani is calm, no wind no rain. Only one cam operating in Las Terrenas and it looks like it's getting rougher...

I find it interesting that Santo Domingo almost always gets spared the worst from hurricanes. There is a reason that the city has survived so well historically.

I think it depends on where you are in Santo Domingo. I was just on a video call to someone in the Colonial Zone and it is tipping it down there.

Caucedo is next to Boca Chica, so it looks like the majority of Santo Domingo is on the green.

MODS: Can I suggest that when a hurricane is coming, you ask people to keep their posts "noise free", ie. no chat or jokes, just posts that people need to know relating to the hurricane. I think this has been the case in previous years. Plenty of other forums on DR1 where people can joke IMO.

Worryingly, the models are now suggesting that the hurricane is going to pass along the north coast, no direct impact but it is a massive storm so there is likely to be some damage. Just what Las Terrenas, Cabarete, Sosua and Puerto Plata need right now eh?

I've heard the AI's have 10% occupancy. Can't remember where I read it. But it's dire.

Interesting that Punta Cana / Bavaro also has the strictest type of curfew. I wonder how this will affect the AI's. Staff working in hotels who are allowed to move around during the curfew, so I guess they can get their staff to and from work OK.

The problem is that you cannot run a 1000 bedroom hotel without some people coming in and out. Think of all the supplies that an AI hotel get through, and all the contractors who have to come in and out. And obviously the biggest risk is that mainly Americans are coming and some will be...
